China’s major carmaker SAIC Motor sold 265,000 vehicles overseas in the first half of 2021, up 112.8 percent from the same period last year, the company said.
The carmaker adjusted its overseas sales target for 2021 from 500,000 units to 550,000 units following the strong performance.
SAIC’s own brands such as MG and Maxus achieved sales of 166,000 units during the period, up 132 percent year on year. They accounted for over 60 percent of the total overseas sales.
In 2020, SAIC Motor sold 390,000 units overseas, up 11.3 percent year on year. The company aims to realize annual sales of 1.5 million units overseas by 2025.
