Alibaba-Backed IM Motors Releases New L7 Models
IM Motors, a joint venture funded by SAIC, Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, officially launched the L7 Dynamic and L7 Pro models on April 17, priced at 368,800 yuan and 408,800 yuan ($57,866 – $64,143) respectively.
The length, width and height of L7 are 5098 mm, 1960 mm, and 1485 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3100 mm. The car features the IM AD evolvable intelligent driving assistance system, 15 high-definition visual cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 11 high-definition sensing cameras, five millimeter wave radars and two high-precision positioning units. It also supports the upgraded NVIDIA Orin X and three lidars.
The IM AD function package includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane change warning, door opening warning, side-rear car warning, side-rear car assistance, remote parking, and WLC high-precision automatic parking.
In terms of interior decoration, the new car adopts a liftable 39-inch screen. Additionally, its central control screen is embedded with the IM OS multi-screen and unbounded intelligent interactive system. Powered by a Qualcomm 8155 cockpit chip, the model supports multimedia entertainment functions, intelligent voice control, automatic air conditioning and other functions.
In terms of power, the L7 model is equipped with front and rear dual permanent magnet synchronous motors. Its maximum power is 425kW, the peak torque is 725 N • m, and the battery capacity is 93kWh. It takes 3.87 seconds for the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
On March 9 of this year, IM Motors announced that its L7 series broke the Guinness World Record for “Long Distance Drift of Electric Vehicles on Wet Ground” previously set by Porsche Taycan, resetting the record from 42.171 km to 43.646 km. The car drifted for 66 minutes, with 258 laps around a track on slippery cement.
