411 Chinese Game Companies Sign Anti-Addiction Agreement
In September, the Game Working Committee of the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, together with 213 member companies such as Tencent and NetEase, jointly issued the Convention on Anti-addiction and Self-discipline of the Online Game Industry. At present, 411 game companies in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong have signed the Convention.
On December 27-28, during the Changzhou International Animation Art Week and Jiangsu Game Industry Development Forum, Wang Biao, director of the Digital Publishing Institute of the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication, said that China’s national anti-addiction, real-name authentication platform has been completed. The platform now has access to more than 5,000 enterprises and over 10,000 games and has achieved the basic goal of warding off addiction among online gamers..
Tang Jiajun, Secretary General of the Game Working Committee, said that dealing with online game addiction is a top priority. He also instructed game enterprises to actively respond to the relevant requirements of the state and authorities, follow the relevant measures for the protection and anti-addiction of juveniles, and resolutely implement the management requirements in all aspects from product research to platform supervision.
The Game Working Committee of the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association has organized 240 game enterprises across the country to carry out training for proper age rating notices. The training courses will take place in Beijing, Shanghai and other places. At present, 95% of the products of middle and upper-level enterprises have added age rating notices to help protect the physical and mental health of young gamers.
